The Great Ocean Road First Impression

IMG_2133Given that the Great Ocean Road is one of Australia’s most famous scenic routes, I’m surprised that I didn’t get to it sooner while I was living in Melbourne.

It was one of those “I’ll get to it,” things since I was living in the city. And, eventually, I did get to it. But it was after I moved out of the city and started traveling again.

When my Dad came to visit me in Australia, we decided to do a day trip with an organized tour, which I knew would be rushed and the majority of our time would be spent on the road rather than seeing things but with a limited time, our options were limited as well.

As predicted, I was right. The majority of the time was spent on the tour bus, and the zig-zag road didn’t help my car-sickness (which I never used to get before on long drives).

IMG_2060The day was long and didn’t end until midnight (it was a sunset tour though we didn’t see much of a sunset). I felt nauseous the majority of the time, and the tour guide was way too interested in my life.  I would have liked to have properly taken a few days to explore the Great Ocean Road as it’s really exhausting and difficult to get a lot done in a day, but a first impression via tour bus had to do.

I must say it was scenic and pretty.
