The Big TWO SIX Has Travel Plans (And It Terrifies Me)

Hey, you guys! Guess what?

Today I officially turn 26-years-old. Yup, the big TWO SIX.

Even though I totally don’t feel like it, especially since I have the attention span of a 3-year-old, and look like a 21-year-old with my new haircut.

It’s not a mile stone like, 25 or 30 or 16. It’s kind of that age that feels like you should be doing something with your life but not sure what. But that’s where you’re wrong.

Because this year is totally going to be MY year. I mean, every year I make goals that never see the light of day: writing a book, kicking off my freelancing career, um, traveling.

But this year is totally different. Because I’m not just saying things or creating bucket lists and not crossing things off it or writing goals on a napkin and then losing it. No way, hosay.

Because the big TWO SIX  has BIG plans — big travel plans. I mean, I even had cheesecake last night. And if that’s not a sign, then I don’t know what is.

This year things are going to happen, even if I have go broke trying to do them. Even if I feel like I’m going to throw up while thinking about it. And even if I have to let insanity take over and purchase a one-way plane ticket. Things are going to happen.

Stay tuned, my dears. Stay tuned. In time I will reveal more details. But the truth is I’m still trying to figure it out, but I may never have it ALL figured out. And that’s OK.

Because this is the big TWO SIX. And things are going to happen.

Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s a brunch and a cocktail with my name on it.  I mean, it IS Sunday and it IS my birthday. Jeez, can’t a girl have a cocktail or three?

  1. Happy Birthday, Priya! I remember 26 like it was just a few months ago…because it was. I turned 27 in August. I know what you mean about feeling like you *should* be doing something. On Facebook, I see people buying houses, getting engaged and married, sometimes divorced, and having babies. Me? None of those things. Not even close. It’s the kind of age where people start to ask more questions about settling down. Where people start to get a bit judgmental about your lifestyle if it’s not the ‘norm’. Where your liver’s alcohol processing capabilities seem to be diminishing. You’ll believe me if you hit those birthday cocktails too hard 😉

    • Thanks, Tom! I see those updates too on Facebook ALL the time. People I went to school with are popping out babies every five seconds and posting their wedding pictures, and it does make you stop and think if you’re doing this whole life thing right.
